We see a drama happening within
the drama in episode 12 when Farida, Zarina and Khizar plan to finally get rid
of Khirad from Ashar’s life. The thing to note is that every character has
their own truth narrative that is guiding them to perform this drama which is
not only ruining a relationship but also maligning a girl’s reputation. They
have justified it with their truth.
Khizer for instance goes ahead
with the drama because of his truth narrative which was becoming eligible for
sarah. It was his love and passion for sarah that made him do all of this and
so he’s not sorry. “Fareeda aunty ki offer thi hi itni achi…Meri zindagi ka ek
hi maqssad hai. sarah ko paana…uskay standards pur poora utar sakoo.” This
reason justified his actions for doing this injustice to Khirad and becoming
part of a big lie. What is worse is that he says he feels bad for her but he is
not sorry. This makes one question how much he really believes in this truth
narrative of his. The idea of how sarah is in love and with Ashar and why would
she go with Khizer if Ashar is single and available. He is just thinking about
one thing which is very irrational. It seems more like an obsession and not
love.
Farida who is also part of the
drama has her own truth narrative. She believes in the economic truth of how
Khirad a lower middle class girl is unacceptable for her elite class foreign
graduate son. Her version of truth is very economic. In the entire episode she
says “Do takkay ki larki.” she does not feel she has done anything wrong
because she feels she is doing the best for her son. Her actions are justified
with her love for her son.
