Dhoop kinaray depicts all sorts
of doctors in the drama. Doctors like Dr Irfan are shown to be humorous and
carefree even though he is the admin of the children ward but he doesn’t let
his personality come in between his work in any way. Then Dr. Sheena is shown
to be highly experienced and also competitive. Dr Ahmer comes top of the line
among his colleagues. He is the most experienced in all of them given his sheer
devotion to work and long working hours at the hospital especially after the
death of his foster father. Then there is Zoya who is nothing like these
doctors and is actually a danger to the patients given her carefree attitude that
she doesn’t leave back in her private sphere.
The moment the drama kicks off,
Zoya is seen as desperately trying to convince her father that she doesn’t want
to attend medical school. Her father however succeeds in persuading her when he
tells her it was her mother’s wish that her daughter becomes a doctor and saves
lives. But given her lack of interest in this field and the sort of non-serious
attitude that she possesses, is Zoya even fit for the job? She is successful in
completing her MBBS even though half-heartedly. Now that she has to start practicing
and that too in a child’s ward is a serious matter. It’s only her luck that she
ends up as a good doctor but that cannot be the case with every person. It shows
a weakness of the parents in the Pakistani society and their emphasis on
certain professions for the children no matter how least interested and
non-suited the child might be to the profession. Doctors are expected to make
the least number of mistakes just like Dr Ahmer is always emphasizing and Zoya
is shown to be everything that a doctor isn’t supposed to be.
Doctors like Zoya pose a danger
to the serious setting of the hospital and the sort of responsibility that her
profession requires. If the child had died the entire blame would have been on
her because she was so uninterested that she forgot to give him the injection
later at night. Therefore, initially the character of Zoya reflects poorly on
the profession and she is the one who gains most of the limelight and not her colleagues
who are definitely shown as serious doctors. It also conveys an important
message that children must not be forced to pursue professions that the parents
have dreamt of because not all doctors can turn out to be like Zoya and this is
something that can pose a serious danger to the lives of the patients.
